The farther we step from the world, the closer we come to the whispers of our soul.

Zora had always loved the sea, but she never imagined she’d have her own secret place—let alone a whale for a friend. It all started the day her small boat drifted off course. She had been rowing along the shore, not paying much attention, when the tide pulled her away. Before she knew it, she was further out than she’d ever been, and a small rocky island came into view. She was scared at first, her heart racing as the island got closer.
But when she finally reached the shore, something changed. The moment she stepped out of the boat, she saw it—a forgotten carved stone, hidden among the rocks. It looked like someone had lived there a long time ago, but now it was just Zora’s. From up there, the view was breathtaking. The whole city stretched out in the distance, but it felt so far away. And it was quiet—so quiet that she could hear the whispers of her soul, accompanied by the gentle sound of the waves. Zora stood there, in awe, her fear melting away. This place was different. It felt magical.
She didn’t tell anyone about it. It became her secret spot. At first, getting to the island was hard. Rowing was exhausting, especially since the island was pretty far from shore. But Zora didn’t mind too much; she liked the effort, the sense of adventure. Then one day, something incredible happened.
She was halfway there, struggling with the oars, when she noticed a huge shadow in the water beside her boat. Her heart stopped—she couldn’t move, couldn’t scream. It was a whale. Zora thought she was done for, but instead of sinking her boat, the whale just… nudged it. Gently, like it was saying, I’ve got this.
The whale guided her boat all the way to the island. Zora was amazed. She wasn’t scared anymore, just completely in awe of this giant, gentle creature. She decided to call the whale Anu, and from that day on, whenever she wanted to visit her secret spot, Anu would appear, ready to tow her across the water.
Zora started telling Anu stories as they drifted together. She wasn’t sure if the whale understood, but Anu seemed to enjoy her voice, occasionally responding with a deep, melodic call. They swam around the island, exploring every inch of it together. They would “talk,” in their own way, connecting without words. It was the most peaceful feeling in the world—Zora, Anu, and the sea.
That island became her place to escape from everything. It was quiet, magical, and hers alone. Just Zora, her whale friend, and the waves.
